Capcom has this evening refused to comment on questions surrounding the possibility of a PS3 demo of massively anticipated action horror game Resident Evil 5.
A 360 demo was confirmed earlier today in a press release sent to media outlets. In the release, the Japanese company announced that a two-level playable demo is set to be made available “exclusively on Xbox 360 for one week beginning Monday, January 26”, with no mention of a demo for the PS3.
Capcom’s press release seems deliberately ambiguous. It could be read to mean the 360 demo will be available for one week and then it will be removed, or, more probably, that it will be available on 360 exclusively for one week and will then come to the PS3.
When contacted by VideoGamer.com, a Capcom representative said: “(The press release) has all the info that we can confirm at this time. We have nothing further to announce.”
The news is sure to disappoint PS3-owners who are desperate to play what promises to be one of the best games of 2009. Resident Evil has in the past been a predominantly PlayStation-oriented franchise, making its name on Sony’s debut console.
Resident Evil 5 is scheduled for release for Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 13, 2009.
