Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi believes the Japanese video game industry must evolve if it is to survive.
Speaking to Xbox World 360, Takeuchi said: “If the Japanese games industry doesn’t evolve and simply maintains its current status quo, I really don’t think we have a hope in hell.”
He added: “Drastically innovative ideas are needed – and quickly – to equal or exceed the Western games industry.”
Takeuchi’s thoughts echo those of Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man and Dead Rising. Back in September 2009 he said the Japanese video game industry was “finished”.
