Capcom has cancelled development of Mega Man Universe, citing “various circumstances” for the game’s demise, but not speaking of any specifically.

The game was announced in July 2010 and even appeared in playable form at TGS later that year. A spring 2011 release for PS3 and Xbox 360 was planned.

Players would have been able to take control of Mega Man and other Capcom heroes such as Ryu from Street Fighter and Arthur from Ghost ‘N’ Goblins.

Although unwilling to divulge the exact reasons for the game’s cancellation, the departure of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune must have played a part in determining the fate of the title.
