Street Fighter IV has been a huge success for Capcom, so it’s only natural the publisher is planning the release of a new game in the beat ’em up franchise, and it appears that Capcom is almost ready to announce its plans.

IGN reports that the Japanese Street Fighter IV blog had promised to speak about a Street Fighter IV follow-up in the blog’s next weekly update. Move forward a week and writer Natsuki Shiozawa didn’t exactly deliver, simply stating that a more solid announcement would be made in the future.

So, an announcement of an announcement then. Still, it would appear that Capcom is readying a new instalment in the Street Fighter franchise, with some form of Turbo, Super or Championship Edition release thought to be most likely.

Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has said that both T.Hawk and Dee Jay are close to completion, but our resident Street Fighter expert Wez reckons a new version of the game would need four new characters at a minimum.
