Call of Duty: World War II’s boots on the ground are about to get a sprinkling of snow, as it announced the start of its first seasonal event Winter Siege, which will bring a few wintery-themed changes to the WWII shooter.

During the event – which runs from Friday December 8 through January 2 – players will be able to skirmish on a new snowy-themed version of the Carenten map for free on multiplayer. Furthermore, the fan-favourite Gun Game, which sees players reward ever more powerful weaponry upon each kill, makes its return.

In the social HQ space, which is also getting a winter-themed makeover, a new quartermaster named Captain Butcher will be offering new and unique winter themed weapons and equipment as rewards for completing certain conditions and challenges during the event. There’ll also be double XP on certain playlists, and free Winter Supply Drop rewards given out during the duration.

All this is detailed in a trailer, which we’ve embedded below. Call of Duty WWII is out now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
