Developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that it’s still bringing custom weapon paint jobs to Call of Duty: WWII. The studio first mentioned it back in January, when it was assumed the feature would be made available alongside The Resistance DLC.

That didn’t happen obviously, leaving many to wonder if paint jobs were still on the cards for the celebrated first-person shooter. Turns out they are, with Sledgehammer confirming in a new update that the feature is still undergoing testing, admitting it initially ‘got ahead of ourselves.’

‘The testing has taken longer than we initially anticipated. We shouldn’t have mentioned timing before we were ready, and we sincerely apologise for that mistake,’ reads the post. ‘Our goal is to wrap this work up very soon, and once we do, we’ll provide an update with more concrete timing.’

For those out of the loop, the paint job feature will allow you to craft, upload, and then view customised designs for various weapons in the game. The Headquarters Gunsmith currently has these options listed, although they can’t be accessed at present as they’re greyed out.

In related news, this year’s Call of Duty game has not yet been officially revealed yet, though rumours point to it being a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. There’s also a Call of Duty movie in the pipeline, which is moving forward with a potential director now in its sights.
