Christmas may be a week away, but as the charts rightfully don’t tend to be counted when everyone’s stuffing their face with turkey, UK based company GfK Chart Track has formally announced that Call of Duty: WWII has become this year’s Christmas No. 1, beating out EA’s own FIFA 18 which came second and (in part thanks to the movie’s release) Star Wars Battlefront II still managed to make it into third place despite the recent issues.

The feat means it also matches the number of times the Call of Duty series has reached the Christmas top spot with FIFA as both games have taken home the honour eight times each since records began in 1984.

In case you’re curious, our own musical picks for favourite Christmas Number 1 are Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens (1985) for Colm, Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody from 1975 for Alice, and East 17’s Stay Another Day (1994) for myself. Â
