Sledgehammer has given an insight into what will be included in the Call of Duty: WWII private multiplayer beta, as well as what won’t be included, in a detailed blog post.

It’s not long now until the multiplayer beta begins next week on PlayStation 4 for those who’ve pre-ordered the game. The beta will grant access to three multiplayer maps, four game modes and the opportunity to try out different classes. Keeping the experience firmly grounded, with boots on.

Players will be able to play on at least three multiplayer maps, Point Du Hoc, Ardennes, and Gibraltar. The beta also includes a new game mode called Operation Breakout, part of the new War Mode, where the action will shift across a map as events unfold during a match. Three of the fan favourite modes will also make an appearance with Team Deathmatch, Domination and Hardpoint featuring.

The private beta will also be the first opportunity for players to try out Divisions, Call of Duty’s take on the class-system, with the choice of Infantry, Expeditionary, Airborne, Armored, or Mountain Division. This will be a good opportunity for fans to try out a different class to get a feel for what fits them best. There’ll also be progression of sorts during the beta, beginning at Soldier 1 with player ranking limited during the beta. A selection of weapons, scorestreaks and equipment can also be unlocked during this period.

So, plenty to play through in the meantime, but there are some things that you won’t be able to access in the beta. Headquarters, the new social aspect of the game, won’t feature until release, neither will there be supply drops or loot of any kind. Obviously ranked play will not be making an appearance until the game goes live worldwide on launch. The same goes for full progression, the additional War Mode maps and WWII’s full range of weapons. Call of Duty: World War II is due for release on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Those who pre-order will gain access to the beta, which comes to PS4 first on August 25 and Xbox One on September 1.
