If you’re planning on getting Call of Duty: WWII next month for the PlayStation 4 then you may want to start clearing some space on your PS4’s hard drive. It’s been reported by Call of Duty fan site CharlieIntel that the downloadable version of the Standard Edition of the game will require a pretty chunky 80GB of HDD space.
The Xbox One version of the game has been rumoured to need 45.14GB of space — almost half the size of the PS4 version. This could be due to the Xbox One version not including the 4K texture pack as standard, and CharlieIntel has speculated that the PS4 version may include the higher resolution textures regardless of whether you have a PS4 Pro or not. If this is the case, it’ll be a bit of a pain in the backside for PS4 owners who’ll have to curate their console’s storage.
Xbox One games won’t automatically download the 4K texture packs, and this is something that’ll only occur when a user is attempting a download with an Xbox One X console. Though it’s been confirmed that users can opt to download 4K texture packs to their Xbox One consoles in preparation for the Xbox One X.
The 80GB figure comes from the “Standard Edition Full” download version. Could be due to higher resolution textures on PS4 Pro.
