Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has smashed digital day one sales records for the publishing giant, beating last year's Call of Duty: WWII in the process.

If that wasn't enough, Black Ops 4 also set a new record for strongest day one digital sales for a full game on the PlayStation Store, while also becoming Xbox One's best-selling digital title ever for Activision.

So yeah, it's fair to say the lack of a campaign in this year's Call of Duty hasn't exactly put people off, eh?

While digital sales for Black Ops 4 have been through the roof, retail sales of the military shooter are the lowest the series has seen in 11 years. According to GI.biz, physical sales are down nearly 50% on WWII, and 59% down on Black Ops 2.

Despite this, the game still sold enough physical copies in the UK to dethorne FIFA 19, which falls to second place.
