Treyarch has exhumed a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies trailer for you to feast your eyes on, this time giving you an idea of the story behind the decomposing mini-game.

Zombies has been a thing in Call of Duty for ten years now, ever since Treyarch introduced it in Call of Duty: World at War with Nazi Zombies. It's since grown into the monstrosity we have today, with other devs including Sledgehammer Games putting their own spin on the undead shenanigans.

Anyway, Black Ops 4's Zombies focuses on Scarlett Rhodes, who battles the shambling hordes in an effort to uncover the circumstances surrounding her father's disappearance.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 12, with a multiplayer beta kicking off early next month. The game marks a significant turning point for the first-person shooter franchise, eliminating a traditional campaign in favour of a battle royale mode.

Rumours are quickly gathering pace that next year's entry will be none other than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
