Burnout creator Alex Ward is working with EA Gothenburg on a secret, unannounced project.

Talking to Develop, Ward revealed that he is currently working on “two unannounced projects”.

One is Criterion’s “Project Hawaii”, presumed to be Need For Speed: Most Wanted, while the other is in conjunction with EA’s brand new Swedish studio EA Gothenburg.

EA Gothenburg was founded in 2011 by gaming industry veterans.

According to the studio’s website, Gothenburg is “a new EA studio focusing on making a new generation of games on the Frostbite 2 engine.”

Could the team be working on a next-gen racer? Ward’s experience coupled with the studio’s motif suggests so.

Ward has played a major role in all of Criterion’s titles, including acting as creative developer on Burnout Paradise, and overseeing development on Burnout 3: Takedown, Black and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

He currently works as vice president and creative director at Criterion, and as EA’s creative director of driving.
