According to The Hollywood Reporter, X Quest is to be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and will feature the usual community interaction that you would expect from an MMO. The X Quest property is also to be used for a Fox reality TV show, with the game influencing the show and vice versa. X Quest is set in the near future, but unlike the majority of MMOs the world will be based on reality and not some imagined technology of the future.

Entertainment convergence is something that has been talked about for a long time, but the multiple media distribution pipes are now in place to create properties that can work on multiple levels,” said Alex Seropian, cofounder of Spectrum MediaWorks, who was also one of the cofounders of Bungie.

The reality TV show will feature two teams of seven who enter a space simulator and take part in a series of challenges. Players at home will be able to interact with the stars from the show, and the best players may get the chance to star in later seasons of the show. Even though no publisher is currently attached to the project, both the game and show are scheduled to launch in the first half of 2007.
