Bungie Aerospace, which recently launched as spin-off company of the Halo series developer, has trademarked the title “Crimson”, according to the Washington State Business License Directory.

The title is listed as “computer game software downloadable from a global computer network,” as well as “computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones”.

Comments made by Bungie writer and designer Joseph Staten at last year’s GDC hinted at the direction of an upcoming game being developed by the studio.

“Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you, with lots of stories to tell, like a big, infinite storytelling horizon? Man, that would be great,” said Staten.

The studio is rumoured to be working on an upcoming MMO title Destiny, however it is unknown whether Crimson is related to this. In March Bungie stated that its mention of an MMO FPS at GDC was a joke.

Bungie Aerospace has kept quiet since it was first revealed – even its official website is looking pretty sparse and ends up re-directing to Bungie’s page when you click the only link on the page. So it will be interesting to see what it actually has to offer.

As of now Bungie is locked in to a 10-year deal with publisher Activision, however no official games have been announced as of yet.
