The game will feature all kinds of new bits and bobs, including new bubble types, hazards and obstacles, but the most significant update will be seen in the level structure of the game. This PSP version has chucked out the old static structure and replaced it with three screens on a central spindle which can be accessed at any time.
Each level will require the gamer to solve an elemental challenge which could mean putting out a fire with ice, or watering a seed so it can grow. All the elements to solve the puzzle are somewhere on the three screens so players will have to switch between them to find all the pieces of the puzzle.
“We wanted to bring something new to Bubble Bobble beyond a straightforward 3D update. With the PSP, we have its raw power and we’ve channelled that into creating a deeper, more complex take on the Bubble Bobble concept,” says Tony Byus, Producer of Bubble Bobble Evolution. “This isn’t Bubble Bobble as fans of the series are used to. This is an entirely new game and with these puzzle elements included, it is literally an evolution of the original game design concept.“
The game is currently scheduled for release in February.
