The Kickstarter funding project for Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse closed at $771,561, with the combined PayPal figure smashing through $800,000, Revolution Software has announced.

“A staggering 14,032 backers contributed an astonishing $771,561 – with PayPal this smashed through $800,000 – more than double the original target,” wrote Revolution. “We really look forward to working with you – thank you for allowing us to write this game in a totally new way. Thank you for joining the adventure.”

This means fans managed to fund two additional stretch goals during the final week.

$700,000: Add a character sitting outside the cafe next to the gallery – someone integral to the gameplay. That person will be based on one of the game’s backers (likeness and name).

$800,000: Add a neighbour for Nico – that neighbour will also be a backer (likeness and name). You could be Nico’s neighbour! This character will also be integral to the gameplay.

Revolution hopes to deliver the game to backers in April 2013.
