While Nintendo’s Revolution using WiFi has been common knowledge since this year’s GDC, Broadcom recently announced that they will be providing the console with its wireless networking technology. It is believed that the wireless technology will be used to connect the console to wireless access points or routers as well as to the console’s controllers.

The depth and breadth of Broadcom’s wireless expertise will enable Nintendo to deliver the industry’s most innovative gaming solutions,” stated Genyo Takeda, senior managing director of Nintendo’s research and development division. “By integrating Broadcom wireless solutions into our next-generation systems, we can provide the high performance gaming and connectivity capabilities that will delight users of Revolution.”

While this announcement isn’t all that exciting in itself, hopefully some real juicy details on the console and its online service will be revealed at E3 in May.
