British writer Michael Lesslie has been hired by New Regency and Ubisoft to adapt Assassin’s Creed for the big screen.

Lesslie is an accomplished playwright and wrote Prince of Denmark, which was performed at the National Theatre in 2012. Although Assassin’s Creed is Lesslie’s first Hollywood project, he has previously penned a number of short films, including Skirt, directed by Amanda Boyle.

Prometheus and X-Men star Michael Fassbender will star and produce. Ubisoft and New Regency are still searching for a director for the project.
