Clan and tournament support for upcoming shooter Brink is “really high” on developer Slash Damage’s agenda, the London studio has said.
Brink, due out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 this autumn, is an eight versus eight objective-based FPS with seamless drop in/out play.
“We’re working out the online services at the moment,” CEO and Brink game director Paul Wedgewood said at publisher Bethesda’s recent Gamers Day event in France.
“We have a reputation for always supporting the community really well. We still run leaderboards for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory seven years later on our portal at Splashdamage.com. We still have editing forums which we support and moderate and still maintain our wiki, which is just massive now with all the source code we’ve released over the years.
“Going forward for clan support and tournament support, it’s really high on our agenda. Three or four of our associate producers at the office are all ex-pro clan players; one from Return to Castle Wolfenstein for 4Kings, another from Tribes 1.
“So they’re just completely obsessed with that stuff. But we’ve got to get to beta first and have the gameplay solid before we worry too much about the tournament and the clan stuff.”
While not an outright confirmation that clan and tournament support will be included in the multiplayer-focused game, it is encouraging news for the more hardcore shooter fans of the Enemy Territory developer.
