The lecture, titled Before and after Darwin has been written up by the website, We Make Money Not Art and reveals Eno’s involvement with Spore.

According to WMMNA, Eno, an expert in the field of ambient music, announced that he will be composing the soundtrack for Will Wright’s Spore.

… one of the currently most eagerly awaited games is Will Wright’s Spore, for which Brian Eno, as he revealed, will be making the soundtrack!” write WMMNA. “He was asked to do it, because the designers wanted sound that is just a procedural as the game itself, instead of the loops which are tied to certain stages or areas which we are used to experience in games.

Eno went on to demonstrate software he calls “The Shuffler.” This is used by Eno to create fragments for the soundtrack, which with very simple combinations form unique compositions that in a single lifetime would never be duplicated.

Spore is currently scheduled for release in the latter half of 2007.
