According to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, the studio’s cooperative, loot-heavy first-person shooter Borderlands, has now sold over three million units worldwide – no mean feat for a new IP which was released during such a crowded marketplace.
Pitchford was speaking at the DICE business conference, where he also explained the studio’s hiring process. “No drama, no dicks, no douchebags,” he said.
With further DLC on the way – The Secret Armory of General Knoxx – the game’s popularity looks set to continue.
Said to be the largest DLC for Borderlands to date, The Secret Armory will feature “never-before-seen enemies in a huge new environment complete with tons of brand new missions”. There’ll be more guns too, and new items. The add-on will also increase the current level cap beyond 50.
