Borderlands 4 PC Steam release time comes out hours before PS5 and Xbox

The release date and time countdown for when Borderlands 4 will come out is official, and it launches on Steam for PC hours before PS5 and Xbox. BL4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it has been hyped as the best in the series as well as the most difficult for players craving a challenge upon returning to Pandora. We only have to wait a little longer for Borderlands 4 to come out, but the good news is that you can play slightly earlier if you own a PC rather than a console.

The release date for Borderlands is September 11th/12th depending on your platform and region. This is Take-Two Interactive’s final big game of 2025 after GTA 6 was delayed to Spring of next year.

Unfortunately, there are no reviews out before its launch. This is disappointing for outsiders on the fence about picking the game up at launch, but BL4 has previewed extremely well. If you’re planning to play on PC, Randy Pitchford has confirmed there will be a day one patch that has “key improvements and optimizations”. However, while this day one patch will do a lot, PC players shouldn’t expect miracles and should have “realistic performance expectations” based on their hardware as the minimum and recommended system requirements are very demanding.

When does Borderlands 4 come out on PS5 and Xbox?

The release time for when Borderlands 4 will come out on PS5 and Xbox consoles is 9PM PT on September 11th, as well as 12AM ET/12AM BST on September 12th. Basically, for consoles, the game is a 12AM local launch on September 12th unlike on PC where the game launches hours earlier.

BL4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but it is arriving slightly later on October 3rd. The CEO of Take-Two Interactive has previously said he feels “really good” about supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 with games, but it “remains to be seen” how well they perform on Nintendo’s hardware.
