The third installment of Gearbox and 2K Games’ irreverent looter-shooter has gone gold, as announced by the Gearbox Twitter account yesterday.
We are pleased to announce that #Borderlands3 has gone GOLD! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen! We’ll see you September 13th Vault Hunters! pic.twitter.com/CgwKbTgP9A

Its launch date — September 13 — is still a month away, so the team behind Borderlands 3 can congratulate themselves, put their feet up and breathe easy before the big day. If this Borderlands is anything like its predecessors with its chaotically warring factions, terrifyingly huge beasts, mile-a-minute characters and dreadfully effective guns, they've earned it.
For the moment, fans can marvel at the planetary profile of Promethea, one of the many interstellar destinations available to traverse and explode and plunder to their heart’s delight. Speaking of avid destruction, new Vault Hunter Zane was introduced in a video short released the other day; he seems like a pleasant and well-adjusted fellow. And who knows, it might give us enough time to cast the iconic cel-shaded automaton Claptrap for the upcoming Borderlands movie.
Borderlands 3 comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 13.
