Today will see the inimitable, 9/10 scoring Borderlands 2 get its fifth character class, Gaige the Mechromancer.
Gaige will make her way to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. That’s all of the platforms! And, yes, she was originally due to make her debut next week on October 16.
“So – here’s the surprise, Mechromancer for Borderlands 2 is ready about a week earlier than I promised. Oct 9, all platforms. Woo,” said Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford on Twitter. Woo indeed.
The Mechromancer DLC will be made available for free to anyone who pre-ordered Borderlands 2 from participating retailers (you’ll know if you’ve got it) or for £7.99/800 Microsoft Points.
Gaige’s main trick is that she summons a friendly, and not at all threatening, robot called Deathtrap. Gearbox has made her full skill tree – split across the Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble and Ordered Chaos paths – available online in whizzy interactive form, allowing you to plot your point allocation while you wait for the content to be shot out of Gearbox’s fat internet pipes.
