RPGs take their time to make the move from Japan to North America and Europe. Being text and voice heavy the translation process can take a considerable amount of time, especially when it comes to the European release and the multitude of languages required on the disc.
Microsoft and Mystwalker’s Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360 looks to be no different. The game was released in Japan late in 2006, and it now looks set to make its debut in North America over half a year later.
If online retailer Gamestop has its facts right, the game will be available in North America from June 5. There’s been nothing official from Microsoft, but should the date be accurate it could indicate a European release towards the back end of the year.
Blue Dragon was well received in Japan and helped boost the flagging Xbox 360 sales, and with little in the JRPG genre currently available on the platform – Enchanted Arms aside – the game should go down well in Western territories too.
