Koji Igarashi has announced that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been delayed until 2019.

Writing in a post on the game's Kickstarter page, the Castlevania legend confirmed that Bloodstained needs a little more time in the oven to 'raise the quality level,' following feedback from the Beta Backer Demo.

The bad news doesn't end there. The PlayStation Vita version of Bloodstained has been completely shelved, a decision that largely boils down to the fact Sony is discontinuing the system and 'ending production of physical copies and stopping certain online store support features.'

Those of you who previously selected the PS Vita version can instead choose another supported format or ask for a refund.

Currently in development at ArtPlay, Bloodstained is seen as something of a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Prior to Shenmue 3, the project was the most funded video game on Kickstarter with over $5.5 million raised from backers.

Bloodstained is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
