Every Diablo 4 update typically comes with at least one form of exploit that allows players to deal massive amounts of damage. For the game’s Season 9 Sins of the Horadrim update, players quickly discovered an easy exploit that allowed players to deal infinite damage with the game’s Sorcerer class.
This is the second infinite damage exploit that has been found in Diablo 4 Season 9 with the first being discovered during the update’s PTR period. While that bug was patched out prior to the update’s official release, Blizzard has rapidly moved to fix release build’s hilarious exploit.
Diablo 4 Season 9 hotfix removes infinite damage
Confirmed in the patch notes for the game’s July 9, 2025 – 2.3.0 Hotfix 3 update, Blizzard explained that the bug that caused the Sorcerer’s Enlightenment skill to scale damage infinitely was patched out.
The Season 9 exploit allowed players to combine the Enlightenment skill and the Infusion Jewel to skip through dungeons and continue to scale damage until the game simply couldn’t calculate the output. In just three minutes, players could deal infinite damage, decimating bosses in a single hit on all difficulties.
“Fixed an issue where an interacting between the Infusion Jewel and Enlightenment that could allow Sorcerer’s to scale damage infinitely,” Blizzard confirmed to fans.
The following updates are also included within the latest hotfix:
- Reduced the rate in which Cosmic Anomaly can proc when being used with projectile skills. These can now also only activate once per skill cast.
- Fixed an issue where Horadric Portals in Horadric Strongrooms were difficult to interact with.
- Stability improvements.
Blizzard has comitted to releasing less buggy updates for Diablo 4 and, to be fair to the company, Season 9 has been largely game-breaking bug free. The arrival of infinite damage exploits are always exciting, and a tonne of fun, although they do need to be patched out. Nevertheless, we can have a great deal of fun when they do appear.
