Blizzard has admitted to tweaking the male Blood Elf character in order to make them have a much manlier look.
“After reviewing the model from a visual and conceptual standpoint, the decision was made to increase the body mass to give them a more substantial, masculine feel,” reads a post on the game’s official forum “It was also important that as members of the Horde that the Blood Elves gave the impression of strength and a more menacing presence.“
Reaction to the change has been mixed, but Blizzard does point out that everything is still subject to change – we are after all still in the beta phase. Only yesterday Blizzard announced that The Burning Crusade expansion would now ship in January 2007 and that the closed beta would be extended.
We’ll have some impressions from the Beta going up on the site in the not too distant future.
