Blizzard has launched the new StarCraft II: Starter Edition demo, to replace its earlier StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty demo.

Starter Edition will allow free unlimited gameplay of the first four missions of the single-player campaign, including access to the terran race in custom games and single-player vs. AI matches.

Players will also be given access to four custom maps, which will include Xel’Naga Caverns, Shattered Temple, Discord IV, and High Orbit.

All campaign progress and achievements earned in the Starter Edition will be saved to the player’s Battle.net account and added to the full game if they decide to buy it.

It has been announced that StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm will be playable at this year’s gamescom.
