PS4 and Xbox One editions of Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will be updated in line with the patches developed for the PC game, Blizzard has announced.

News came in two separate announcements on the PlayStation Blog and Xbox Wire.

“The next-gen console architecture makes it much easier for us to offer ongoing patch support for the PS4 version of the Ultimate Evil Edition,” explains Diablo 3 production direction John Hight. “This means that as we continue to patch the game on PC, we’ll now be able to roll out related patch content, as appropriate, on PS4 as well. It’ll take some additional time beyond the PC patch rollout, but we’ll get them to you as quickly as possible.”

Regarding Xbox One, he wrote: “When we started on this adventure, we thought we’d never be able to do updates on the console side in the same way we do with the PC. This allows us to be more responsive to our customers. Our goal is to eventually make these updates simultaneous.”

The PC game’s new 2.1 patch will follow shortly on consoles.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition launches August 19, running in 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One.
