A few WoW owners who weren’t playing fair have found that their accounts have been taken away by Blizzard. The company, who isn’t one to shirk its responsibilities, has become aware of a speed hack that is being used by a number of players. This enables players to cover land a lot quicker than they should be able to, giving them an unfair advantage over fair playing users.

In a statement made on the official website, a spokesperson for the company said: “This goes against the theme of fair play that we have instituted for the game, and is in clear violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use,” going on to say that this message will serve as a “final warning” to users still using the hack.

Blizzard fans would have expected this response from the company, having previously banned many people found to be cheating while playing games on their Battle.net service. This early statement of fair play should send a clear message to anyone who wants an unfair advantage.

Anyone who thinks they have seen someone cheating can email [email protected], and the report will be looked at. This applies to both the released North American version and the current Beta in Europe. Blizzard is aware that there may be occurrences that aren’t the users’ fault, that are caused by a bug or an unlikely game scenario. These situations are also being looked into, so everyone has a fair playing field.

We will have our first report on the game late this week.
