Black Tusk Studio is making “massive progress” on its upcoming Gears of War title, Xbox head Phil Spencer has teased.

Taking to Twitter, Spencer revealed that he had spent a “great day yesterday with @blacktuskstudio and [studio manager Rod Fergusson], always inspiring. Team is making massive progress.”

Microsoft announced that it had acquired the Gears of War IP from creators Epic Games earlier this year, with Black Tusk handed development of an upcoming Xbox One game.

The platform holder previously said that it hopes “to be able to share more news about ‘Gears of War’ later this year” but with the firm sitting out this weekend’s Game Awards, time seems to be running out for any substantial announcements.
