Activision has announced that Rezurrection – that’s with a Z – the fourth map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released for Xbox 360 on August 23. It will cost 1200 Microsoft Points.

Rezurrection is a Zombies-only affair, and no regular adversarial multiplayer maps have been included. It includes four classic Zombies maps and one new scenario.

The remade Zombies maps in Rezurrection are Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese. These were all originally released with 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War and subsequently included with the Hardened and Prestige editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Moon, the new map, is unsurprisingly set on the Moon. It features zombies. On the moon. It will also come with a Moon-based Xbox 360 theme and the Call of Duty: Zombies soundtrack.

Owners of the Hardened and Prestige editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops will be able to download the new Rezurrection content for free. From August 23 owners of the Classic zombies pack will be able to go into their Xbox 360 download history and redownload the item to get access to the new items, including the theme and soundtrack.

Black Ops, the most successful video game of all time, has seen three other downloadable map packs – First Strike, Escalation, and Annihilation. They were pretty good: VideoGamer handed out 8/10, 8/10, and 7/10 respectively.

As per usual, PlayStation 3 and PC owners of Black Ops will have to wait around a month to get the Rezurrection content.

Elsewhere, Activision announced it was still doing alright financially. Net revenues were up to $1.1 billion for the quarter, as opposed to $967 million during Q2 last year.

“Our better-than-expected second-quarter performance was driven by record digital sales of our online-enabled franchises,” said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick while sitting on a throne of money. “For the six month period, net revenues from digital channels grew more than 20 per cent, driving record operating margin and EPS growth of more than 50 per cent.”

Looking ahead, Activision is probably anticipating success from this year’s Modern Warfare 3. “Pre-orders for Modern Warfare 3 have significantly exceeded the pre-orders for Black Ops at this time last year,” said Kotick.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released for 360, PS3, and PC on November 8.
