Chinese hack-and-slash RPG Black Myth Wukong now lets you conquer its mythical lands not as one of history’s most important characters, but one of pop culture’s coolest. Instead of battling gods as Sun Wukong and his magical staff Ruyi Jingu Bang, you can now do the same as Darth Maul with his swanky double-ended lightsaber.

A new mod for the bestselling game now allows you to play as the Sith apprentice Darth Maul, complete with his iconic weapon. With the mod, the effortlessly cool Dathomirian Zabrak replaces the Monkey King as he rampages across the world, fighting beastmen and gods to retrieve lost relics.
The Darth Maul mod doesn’t fundamentally change the gameplay of Black Myth: Wukong. Essentially, it’s just a new skin for the pheromonal action game with Darth Maul using the base game’s fluid animations. However, with Wukong’s movements already matching the flipping grace of the Star Wars character, it’s a perfect fit.
While Maul’s glowing red lightsaber doesn’t leave any scorching cuts like in, say, Jedi Survivor, the game’s swathe of particle effects does make for some satisfying lightsaber combat. With the only known Darth Maul-centric game cancelled years ago, this is the best Maul adventure we’re getting.
How to install Black Myth Wukong’s Darth Maul mod
If you want to give the Darth Maul mod a twirl, you can download the Star Wars-themed skin here on Nexus Mods. You’ll also have to make sure you have the Signature Bypass mod installed to replace models in the game.
After that, simply unpack the mod’s zip file into the game directory and run the title as usual. If everything is correct, the game’s main costume should be replaced with the iconic Star Wars character, complete with a very red face.
