Regular readers will know Canadian RPG developer BioWare’s admitted it would consider adding multiplayer features to future Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. But we’ve got more for you. Thanks to reader Mr_Ninjutsu, whose question we put to head honcho Dr. Ray Muzyka in a special edition of Your Questions Answered, we now know that the RPG developer would also consider creating a first-person shooter.

“We would,” replied the Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 developer when asked if BioWare would consider creating an FPS. “We haven’t announced anything on that front, but yeah, I can see that being a very interesting combination.”

BioWare has already taken steps outside of the traditional RPG format, Muzyka said.

“I see the definition of RPG as being pretty broad. We look at Mass Effect, I say, and I believe, that it’s as much a shooter as it is an RPG. When you play it, it really feels that way.

“So I’d say we’re approaching other genres by expanding what the definition of RPG is, and blending in features of other genres to enrich our game experiences and draw in new fans.”

So there you have it. Mass Effect in first person? BioWare’s Fallout 3 killer? EA’s answer to Borderlands? The mind boggles.
