Anthem's VIP demo was a bit of a mess in places, but it seems that the game's public demo fared better: BioWare's said the results 'exceeded' the company's expectations over the weekend. Guess all that polishing last week came up trumps, eh?

Speaking on the BioWare Blog, the Mass Effect creator said that both demo weekends notched up over 40 million hours of play time, and that response from gamers was 'overwhelmingly positive.'

'Of the many cool things we’ve seen from the community, the creativity around Javelin customizations has been mind-blowing. So many favorites, but here are several that caught our eyes,' said BioWare.

The team is obviously now focussed on Anthem's launch and its post-launch content.

'There’s so much more than you saw in the demo and we can’t wait for you to play it. We’re also very hard at work on exciting post-launch content. You saw a small glimpse of it in the game Sunday.  We’ll have much more to share on that soon,' said the company.

Anthem is due out on February 22 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
