BioWare has responded to users who have been frustrated by Star Wars: The Old Republic’s technical performance since launch.
After a number of threads relating to plummeting framerates, community representative “Arrthen” stated on the official forums:
“Our development team and our production team have been investigating this issue and we want to thank everyone who has posted constructively on this thread.
“You’ve provided the development team with a basis for investigation into the low FPS issues, and with your help they have identified and are in the process of resolving the indoor framerate drop.”
The studio promised a detailed blog which will explain proposed fixes to the problems many users are facing. However until then, users with framerate issues are told to close down any running applications in the background, turn down the in-game graphics settings, change the settings to favour performance using third party graphic management software, turn off “bloom” in the graphic options of the MMO, turn shadows off and shaders low, and update your drivers.
Star Wars: The Old Republic was released December 20 and may see a Mac port some time soon.
