BioWare has announced that pre-orders for its upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Repulic have been limited due to plans to stagger the game’s launch, allowing select handfuls of users to play the game before it officially opens, according to Gamefront.
Pre-orders available from Amazon for the Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition have already sold out, and the Standard box is likely not far behind.
BioWare has additionally stated that pre-orders are only available to retailers in Europe and the US, while as they “cannot commit to any timeframe” for the retail release of the game in areas like Australia and New Zealand.
Community manager Stephen Reid responded to this on Twitter, explaining the game will not be region locked.
No release date is currently announced for Star Wars: The Old Republic, however beta tests will run beginning September.
