Gamers that have spent hundreds of hours earning PlayStation Trophies now have the chance to be rewarded for their achievements.
Bid for Greatness is a new US-only Sony website which allows PlayStation gamers to bid on PlayStation memorabilia featured in the Greatness Awaits trailer using their Gold Trophies.
“You’ve conquered worlds. Saved civilizations. Snatched victory from defeat. You’re great, let’s put your greatness to use,” reads the official blurb. “We’re placing items used in the Greatness Awaits video up for auction. The only way you can get them is with Playstation gold trophies. Log in with your PSN account and take your best shot. Many will bid, the greatest will win.”
Items on offer include the Dragonborn Dagger, a Helghast Sniper outfit and Captain Kenway’s outfit from Assassin’s Creed 4.

We’ve asked Sony whether it plans to offer a similar service in the UK.
This is a neat idea, but it would be good to see it extended with additional items (perhaps digital) which could be purchased with fewer Gold Trophies. The first auction – that of a Killzone: Shadow Fall Black Hand Outfit – currently has a winning bid of 975 Gold Trophies.
