Fantastic news for point and click adventure fans – York developer Revolution Software, the studio behind Broken Sword, is set to release a Remastered version of sci-fi classic Beneath a Steel Sky for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Titled Beneath A Steel Sky – Remastered, the game will be the first developed by Revolution’s new division ‘Revolution Pocket’, which is focussed on creating and publishing narrative-based handheld games specifically for formats which support digital distribution, including the iPhone, Google Android devices, PSP Go and the Nintendo DSi.

Cyberpunk point and click adventure Beneath a Steel Sky was originally released in 1994 for DOS and Amiga, and is widely considered to be one of the genre’s greatest games.

Revolution’s legendary managing director Charles Cecil showed Beneath A Steel Sky – Remastered to VideoGamer.com at the recent Brighton Develop conference, and it looks lovely. There’s a new intro and outro from Dave Gibbons, co-creator of cult comic book Watchmen, a new hint system and higher quality audio. You can get loads of info on what’s changed over at our preview.

Revolution also confirmed it’ll announce more Revolution Pocket titles “soon”, “some of which people will recognise, while others will be wholly original”.
