The Behemoth, the independent studio behind Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, has announced that its latest game, BattleBlock Theater, will no longer be released in 2010.

“BattleBlock Theater is becoming so much more than we ever expected,” explained The Behemoth’s Kelly Revak. “It feels like no other game out there – there’s a little more r&d than we thought and lots of new ground to break.”

And all this means the game “will not be releasing in 2010.”

Revak added: “A ton of work has gone into this game which feels like no other game! We’re currently forcing someone to start getting some videos/pictures prepped so we can pass the time quickly together.”

There’s no word on when the game will now be released.

The delay is disappointing, but now that The Behemoth has got Castle Crashers out on PSN worldwide, the team is able to focus its attentions on BattleBlock Theater.

Castle Crashers suffered a considerable delay on Xbox LIVE Arcade, but when the game finally hit the digital store in August 2008 it proved to be well worth the wait. Hopefully the same will be said of BattleBlock Theater.
