The BBC has some bad news: You'll no longer be able to enjoy BBC iPlayer on Xbox 360 from March 27 (via Eurogamer).
The catch-up service has had a decent innings on Microsoft's last-generation console, though, lasting around seven years. Chances are you've probably moved on from the 360 as your catch-up medium of choice, so you might not really care that much.
Launching in March 2012, iPlayer for Xbox 360 arrived some time after the PS3 version of the app, and utilised Kinect's voice controls and hand gestures. You know it's been a while when we're talking about Kinect, eh?
iPlayer wasn't available on 360 for a while due to the fact Microsoft locked many features behind a Xbox Live Gold subscription, and the BBC obviously wasn't willing to go with this option. iPlayer is funded by the public's hard-earned dough, after all.
It worked out in the end, though, and I myself used my trusty old 360 a lot of times to catch up on the latest antics in EastEnders. If you could see me now, I've taken this news to heart; a bit like Ian Beale in the picture above. A tragic loss.
