Rebellion has announced that futuristic tank blaster Battlezone will be re-released under the Gold Edtion moniker later this year for PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One. What's more, the game will no longer require a virtual reality device in order to play it.

As you've probably twigged by now, Battlezone Gold Edition will include the base game plus all existing additional content right out of the box, including bobbleheads, skins, and the retro-flavoured Classic Mode. If that wasn't enough, existing PS4 and PC owners of the game will be able to upgrade to the Gold Edition free of charge.

Battlezone Gold Edition will be released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on May 1 priced £29.99, with a Switch version pencilled in for release this summer. The game was originally released in 2016 for PlayStation VR and HTC Vive, and is based on the 1980s arcade classic of the same name.
