EA isn’t messing about with Battlefield 3, and Battlelog producer Frederick Loving has scouted out all the major competition to ensure the social service can cut the mustard when the game launches next week.

“We looked at everything,” said Loving in an interview with Gamasutra. “That’s inspirational for me just finding out what other people do and just sort of grabbing the good pieces out of it.”

Loving admits that he was inspired by many other social networks when creating Battlelog, but that all social networks are similar at the end of the day.

“Of course we’re inspired by a lot of the social networks that are out there and they’re all pretty common if you look at them,” adding that “they have the similar feeds, they have similar likes, they have similar comments so there’s a lot of common features amongst all social networks.”

Battlelog is a free social service designed to complement Battlefield 3, which will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 28.
