Blizzard Entertainment has announced the release of the first two player vs. player Battlegrounds for the record breaking MMORPG World of Warcraft. The new battlefields add a new dimension to gameplay for both the experts and those players new to the game.
“While World of Warcraft has been expanding with new content regularly since launch, the PvP Battlegrounds represent the single biggest update to the game yet,” stated Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re excited that players can now experience Horde-vs.-Alliance combat as it was meant to be, and we’re looking forward to adding even more Battlegrounds to the game with future updates.“
Two Battlegrounds are available now: Alterac Valley, a high end zone for groups of experienced players; and Warsong Gulch, a zone for all players of level 21 or higher. In the snow covered mountains of the Alterac Valley, teams of 40 battle it out for domination with battles lasting hours. Warsong Gulch is set between Ashenvale Forest and the Barrens with battles between teams of 10 lasting around 45 minutes. In Battlegrounds players can earn Honour points to help players increase their rank.
Blizzard are currently designing new Battlegrounds which should be available for testing in the coming months.
