Battlefield 5 is due to release “in just a few years”, according to a report by the New York Times.

The paper claims to have spoken to DICE about the unannounced sequel in a recent interview, with Battlefield 4’s executive producer Patrick Bach promising “More features. More extras. More destruction” for the next game.

“Every new game needs to be the next big thing,” Bach added.

Of course, it seems a little early for DICE to be talking about Battlefield 5. Battlefield 4, the next game in the series, doesn’t hit stores until next week with 12 months of Premium content set to follow.

Besides Battlefield 4, DICE is currently known to be working on reboots of Mirror’s Edge and Star Wars: Battlefront. It has also teased a return of the Battlefield: Bad Company series.

Battlefield 4 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC next Friday, November 1. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are due to follow at the launch of each console.
