EA has no plans to release PC patches for Battlefield 3 outside of its Origin platform.
After the game’s most recent 3.6 gigabyte patch, players had asked for the updates to be released as standalone files so they could be downloaded from local mirrors, but EA confirmed to Ausgamers that this option would not be made available.
EA also said it had no plans to look into this option. Most digital download services, such as Steam, do not create standalone patches.
“The multiplayer mode is nothing short of essential,” said VideoGamer.com in its 8/10 Battlefield 3 review.
