UPDATE: The problem has been sorted. “The Xbox 360 issues are now resolved. Thank you for your patience!” says the Battlefield Twitter account.
Battlefield 3 is currently experiencing server problems on the Xbox 360.
On attempting to connect to the game’s multiplayer features, users are met with an error message saying the game cannot connect to the EA Online servers.
DICE is aware of these problems and is currently working to resolve them. “We’re aware of the server issues on the Xbox 360 and are working to correct them as soon as possible,” wrote the official Battlefield 3 Twitter account.
EA’s support website previously warned of problems happening tonight – the game’s launch date in the US – but asserted that problems would be “temporary”.
“Unprecedented demand may affect online performance tonight in Battlefield 3. We’re aware of the issue and doing everything possible on our end to make sure the servers are working at 100%. We apologize for any dips in performance you may experience, but want to assure you they are only temporary.”
Xbox 360 owners are also experiencing difficulties with Battlefield 3 social platform Battlelog – the service presenting users with a “the BF3 Statistics Engine is currently down” error message when trying to access information.
DICE’s last game, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, was also plagued with server problems on its opening weekend.
Battlefield 3 launches in the UK on October 28.
