EA has announced that Battlefield 2: Special Forces, the expansion to Battlefield 2, is available now to download from the EA website. It will set you back $29.99 (around £17) and you will need to install the EA Downloader, which handles the game in a similar way to Valve’s Steam service. The expansion can be payed for and downloaded now, but you won’t be able to play it until 1pm EST on November 22. Doh!

The game will also be available in the shops, for all those that like to have a physical game on their shelf, or simply unable to download the game. In Special Forces you play for one of six Special Forces teams: Navy SEALs, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, rebel groups, insurgents or the SAS. EA says that the game features lots of advanced vehicles and weaponry as well, which sounds like fun.
