The expansion, titled the Warsome Booster Pack, is to be released on December 22 and will be given away for free over Xbox Live. EA say that they would usually charge $9.99, but seeing as it’s Christmas, they’ve decided to give it away for free.

Just because it’s free it doesn’t mean that the update is worthless either – far from it. For your bandwidth you get three new maps (Wake Island, a Middle Eastern map and a snowy terrain in northern China), four new vehicles (attack snowmobiles with dual-mounted machine guns, modified pickup trucks with .50 cal armament, assault vans loaded with mini-guns and a RIB boat), new character skins and more.

Remember to check for the update from December 22 using the in-game menus. For full details of the update check out EA’s Modern Combat website. Sorry PlayStation 2 owners, but this update is strictly for the Xbox game only.
